This information session for prospective families is the first step to enrolling in the Suzuki School of Newton. We are currently enrolling for all programs: Suzuki Prep, Early Beginners, and our Core program with concentration in violin, viola, cello, piano, flute, guitar, and harp.

Student Solo Recitals - March 7, 2020, 3:00pm & 4:30pm

Solo recitalLocation: United Parish of Auburndale church (64 Hancock Street, Auburndale)


Violin, viola, cello, piano, flute, guitar, and harp students from the Suzuki School of Newton will present their polished pieces in two solo recitals: one beginning at 3:00pm, and a second beginning at 4:30pm.

The recitals are free and open to the public.

Solo recitalLocation: Scandinavian Cultural Center (206 Waltham St, West Newton)


Violin, viola, cello, piano, flute, guitar, and harp students from the Suzuki School of Newton will present their polished pieces in two solo recitals: one beginning at 3:15pm, and a second beginning at 4:45pm.

The recitals are free and open to the public.


 


Fiddle Club with Joy Grimes - March 17, 2020, 4:00pm

Fiddle Club

Location: Suzuki School of Newton, 1615 Beacon Street, Waban, MA 02468

Room: F112

Violinists Suzuki Book 2 and up (or equivalent) are invited to drop in to this monthly Fiddle Club meeting. Learn new tunes and styles of fiddling including Irish, Scottish, and Cape Bretton.

$25 per session. Payable in the Suzuki office.

Violin Graduations - March 21, 2020, 3:00-6:00PM

Solo recitalLocation: United Parish of Auburndale church (64 Hancock Street, Auburndale)

Suzuki School of Newton violin students of all ages celebrate their annual graduations from various levels of the graded Suzuki repertoire in an afternoon of performances showcasing their mastery.

4:30 Twinkle and book 3

5:30 Books 4 and 5 

Note: Books 6 and 7 graduation will take place on Sunday, May 10, 2020, at 6:15pm at SLC

 


Advanced Piano Recital - March 21, 2020, 6:30pm

Solo recitalLocation: M. Steinert & Sons (1069 Washington Street, West Newton)


Advanced piano students from the Suzuki School of Newton will perform their polished pieces in this special showcase recital at the brand new location of M. Steinert and Sons, New England's premier piano merchant. This performance will also feature additional performances from the Suzuki School of Newton's very own professional piano faculty. 

The recital is free and open to the public.

 


playathon - March 29, 2020, 12:00-6:00pm

Solo recitalLocation: The Shops at Chestnut Hill Mall (199 Boylston St, Chestnut Hill, MA 02467)

The Playathon is a marathon six-hour performance of various solos, groups, and chamber ensembles at the Shops at Chestnut Hill Mall.  As our annual scholarship fundraiser, Suzuki School of Newton students call on their friends and family to support their participation in this event through a tax-deductible donation to the scholarship fund.

Mt. Pleasant Home Performance - April 10, 2020, 1:30pm

Solo recitalLocation: Mt. Pleasant Home (301 S Huntington Avenue, Jamaica Plain 02130)

Violin students will perform a special concert for the residents of Mt. Pleasant Home in Jamaica Plain.

As part of our mission to instill a sense of responsibility to one's community in our students, SSN regularly arranges performances at retirement homes and assisted living facilities where students can share their joy of music making.

Waban Village Day - May 17, 2020, 11:00am

Solo recitalLocation: Waban village center

Suzuki School of Newton students will once again be providing music for Waban's annual Village Day!

Waban Village Day also offers plenty of food, entertainment, amusement rides and games for kids of all ages, handmade crafts, jewelry, gifts and more.  There is also an opportunity to chat with members of the Waban Library Center and  Waban Area Council to learn more about these organizations and discuss important issues with city officials, candidates, and citizens organizations.

All School Concert - May 19, 2020, 5:00pm

All School ConcertLocation: First Baptist Church (848 Beacon Street, Newton 02459)

Suzuki School of Newton students of all ages, ability levels, and instruments will perform in groups for this exciting end of the school year performance.

Groups of violinists, violists, cellists, pianists, flutists, guitarists, and harpists will showcase the pieces they've learned throughout the year, culminating in everyone performing Twinkle Twinkle Little Star. 

This performance is free and open to the public.

 


Solfege & Composition Day - May 30, 2020, 2:00pm

Solfege Composition DayLocation: United Parish of Auburndale church (64 Hancock Street, Auburndale)

 

Students from the Suzuki School of Newton will demonstrate the skills they've been learning in musicianship class, including singing with solfege, conducting, and even composing their own music!

This performance is free and open to the public.

Newton Porchfest - June 6, 2020, 2:00-5:00pm

PorchfestLocation: Various porches in Waban, including our front porch at 1615 Beacon Street

Suzuki School of Newton students will once again be providing music for Newton Porchfest!

PorchFest is an afternoon of free music performed outside of people’s homes. Newton now joins the 100+ other cities across the country who hold this every year.
