A Fun Learning Experience: The Massachusetts Suzuki Festival!
Coming up in March is the 2021 Massachusetts Suzuki Festival! This is a special opportunity for Suzuki students around Massachusetts (perhaps even around the world) to come together, take classes, meet new friends, and learn new things. The festival is virtual this year, it takes place from Saturday, March 6th to Sunday, March 7th and is for students playing Violin, Viola, Cello, Bass, Guitar, Flute, and Piano. Students can participate in classes on Saturday, Sunday or both days. Available to those enrolled in the festival are masterclasses, early childhood education classes, Suzuki group classes, enrichment classes, and performances.
Along with classes in the group class format that you are all familiar with, there are enrichment classes offered in topics such as improvisation, fiddling, eurhythmics, Caribbean music, rhythm, technique workshops, guitar blues and more. Not only are these classes an opportunity to learn more about music, but they allow students to meet new teachers from all over Massachusetts and the US.
There is also much to be gained by taking classes from new instructors. The instructors of these classes are extensively trained professionals and may teach instruments and concepts in a way that a student may have never seen before. A fresh perspective may be the key difference one needs to develop a new understanding or appreciation for their instrument.
You can learn much more about what is being offered at the Massachusetts Suzuki Festival by visiting their website online. The festival is sponsored by the Suzuki Association of Massachusetts, not by SSN, so please find more details about enrolling via their website. Early-bird registration for the festival is available through January 31, and scholarships are available to students who apply by January 31 as well. There’s a lot of new things to see and experience by attending this event, so we hope that you will take advantage of this once-in-a-year opportunity!
