Our Giving Thanks

This is a very significant time of year as many celebrate Thanksgiving and gather their family together. It is a time when both we count our blessings and sometimes remember those we may have lost. It is a celebration through shared meals, shared time together and shared music.

When I talk to prospective people interested in joining our Suzuki School we conduct an information session where we explain the Suzuki philosophy and importance of a positive environment to make learning possible. I usually place an emphasis on daily practice and the parental involvement in creating a positive musical environment. One of the analogies I make is that making music together as a family can become a tradition in a similar way as coming together for a holiday and eating a meal together. Music is a way to bring us together and bond as a family with a connection that is very meaningful.

Our faculty are performing together tomorrow, Saturday, Nov. 19th at 6:30 pm at the Newton Presbyterian Church, 75 Vernon Street in Newton Corner. You are all invited to share in this musical gathering. We are so grateful to those who are able to take the time to share and connect with our teachers as they display their talents as musicians.

Whenever I think of giving thanks, I always remember the important teachers who gave so much to my children's education. I remember my parents who inspired us to love music. I remember the many generous individuals who have made their time and treasure a part of building, sustaining and growing the Suzuki School of Newton. In this time of Thanksgiving, may you all find peace, warmth and human connection.
