The Spirit of Volunteerism

In our very busy world, I am always amazed at how loving and giving our Suzuki School community is. Just this past week, as our Suzuki Preschool started pool Covid testing, our Preschool Director Katrina Hester mentioned how willing she found the Preschool parents in helping her administer swab tests. The administrative staff, Preschool teachers and students are participating in this weekly pool testing to enable us to monitor and keep everyone safe. Thank you so much to the parents who have and will be volunteering to keep this important new program going.

The Suzuki School needs volunteers! One of the ways we keep our costs down is by having a limited administrative staff and also limited maintenance personnel. Thus, we call upon our Suzuki community to help us with either their expertise -- marketing or fundraising, for example -- or just for a few hours of simple labor like gardening, painting, installing a shelf, tightening screws on chairs, etc.

The Suzuki School of Newton envisions a world with creative and caring citizens who engage in the global community through beautiful music.

Our Suzuki students perform at the annual Harvest Fair on Sunday, October 17th at 12 noon. This is a volunteer service our students provide in sharing their music to a greater community. Several times per year we have these opportunities. For example, on September 19th, piano students performed outdoors on the piano in front of the Waban Library Center to provide a musical background for Bike Newton's: Tour de Newton.

We need parent experts to join the Suzuki Board of Directors. We need parents to join our fundraising committee which is rather a fun- and friend- raising committee to plan some future social events which will include music, of course! Our Suzuki teachers are also volunteers and they participate in the Suzuki Association of MA, a non-profit, Festivals and Workshops as volunteers. Many of us are members and volunteer for various events, like the upcoming Halloween party.

Please let me or Katrina know if you are interested in volunteering! We have a list of tasks, and time commitments vary. We believe that giving back to our community -- adults and children -- teach that we all are part of a global community. Showing that we care is important.
