Going Above and Beyond -- Our Teachers!
This is that time of year when teachers undergo what is commonly called their annual review. Sometimes considered a serious and somewhat arduous task, it has struck me that this year it is filled with the realization that the teachers in both the music and preschool programs have gone "above and beyond." What a year they have endured, managed and optimized to the benefit of all their students. A few words of appreciation go a long way, and I invite all the parents to send me a few words in honor of the teacher and teachers whom they have recognized as having gone the distance. How nice it will be for them to hear that a certain detail or moment was noticed by the parent and student as having been meaningful or significant in some way.
We will cherish these testimonials and help spread the word on how wonderful our teachers truly are! The Suzuki School spirit has endured a remarkable year, and we want to celebrate all the teachers for their hard work, their passion for teaching, and their love of their students. Please send me your special memories (music and preschool!) to honor your teacher to sachiko.isihara@gmail.com. We would like to anonymously share some of these in our newsletters.
When I asked Mrs. Karp of the Whole Notes classroom if she thought some of our children were not meeting developmental standards due to the pandemic, she said "absolutely not." She wrote me this note: "It is hard to believe that the year has come to an end. Due to Covid, it was a tough year for all of us. But since children are very resilient little people, somehow everything worked out despite masks, social distancing, or no sharing of certain toys. A tremendous amount of social, emotional and academic growth took place here. Friendships were formed, some of which will last a lifetime."
I will say, we are truly lucky to have such wonderful music and preschool teachers at the Suzuki School of Newton. Thank you to all of them!

P.S. Mrs. Karp and Mrs. Kurtz will be retiring at the end of this year from the Whole Notes classroom. We will miss them so much, but we are so thankful they have been with us to teach so many of our Suzuki Preschool children. Best wishes and enjoy your retirement!
